The Mummy Tag Q&A

‘The Mummy Tag’ is doing the rounds and I’ve enjoyed reading others answers so when I was tagged by Becky at Sparkly Mummy and Davina at Motherhood IRL I thought I’d join in!

  1. Are you a stay at home or working mum?

I’m currently a mat leave mum, but in 4 weeks I’ll be back to working mum. Well, part time working mum.

  1. Would you have it any other way?

Erm…in a word- Yes.  Maybe if I could just work 1 day a week. Only whilst she’s little- when she’s school aged I don’t think I’ll mind as much.

  1. Do you co-sleep?

d next to meWeighed up the pros and cons and decided that, for us, the cons outweighed the pros so we bought a co-sleeping cot. I have the Chicco Next-2-me. I really like it but have had to put the side up now because she can roll/wiggle into my bed and onto my pillow. Quite nice to go to sleep beside her and wake up to her but I think it won’t be long until we have to move her into her bedroom as she’s looking a bit big for it!

  1. What is your one must-have item for your baby?

Can I have 2? The combination of a muslin and a dummy is absolute magic when settling her. She especially likes ones with a label on for maximum twiddle!

  1. How many kids do you plan on having?

I say 3, he says 2. We’ll see. And if the one we have now is the only one we ever have I am more than happy with her.

  1. Date nights? How often do you have them?

Just the 2 of us? We haven’t yet. But we do go out quite often for dinner with her and have a really nice time. Plus she’s still small enough just to snooze whilst we chat if it’s later on. Yes, we’re the irresponsible parents with a sleeping baby in a pram out after 8pm.

  1. Your child’s favourite show?

She’s 7 months old and has no idea that children’s TV exists. I’m not even sure she understands what the TV is? She’ll dance to the NCIS theme though so maybe that’s her favourite?

  1. Name one thing you bought before you had the baby and never ended up using?

I don’t think there’s anything I bought but didn’t use. I do have quite a few unworn and tagged clothes though that she never got round to wearing.

     9. Your child’s favourite food?

cucumberstickBroccoli, cucumber and those snack things that look like giant wotsits but are vegetable flavoured. Scrambled eggs and toast is a winner too. She loves anything she can feed herself. If it’s shop bought, Ella’s pouches go down well and I like them because the smell doesn’t make me want to heave unlike most shop bought baby food

  1. How many cars does your family have?

One. I can’t drive.carseatdodie

  1. Weight gain, before pregnancy, during, after and now?

I was huge pregnant, lost a load after the birth but now I seem to have eaten the old Lauren and have replaced her with a giant Lauren. Super Lauren. So yes. Lots of weight gain.

  1. Dream holiday with your kids?

Am I meant to say Disney? Because that would be my idea of hell right now. In the future I might do a few days at a Disney but not as an actual holiday but part of one?

I’m quite looking forward to this summer to be honest. It’s not ‘dream holiday’ material but just visiting her grandparents and relaxing in the sun. Perfect.

  1. Dream holiday without your kids?

I haven’t even thought about leaving her yet. I’d have to think about this when she’s older. It’d probably be somewhere that I’d consider not child-friendly.

  1. How has your life changed since having kids?

Inexplicably and immeasurably. I liked my life before but I never knew how much she would enhance it. I feel like I am less selfish and a lot calmer than pre-baby.

I feel like I want her to have a fantastic life and that’s my main mission now. It’s all about her. And I would not change that at all.

  1. Finish the sentence “It makes heart melt when…”

daddydaphnewearI watch my OH and our daughter interacting. I didn’t have a close relationship with my dad as a child so watching them develop a bond is both alien and wonderful for me. The first time she laughed, it was because he made her laugh. He was so happy and surprised that he cried.

  1. Where do you shop for your kids?

Anywhere that has cute stuff!

Next, Zara, H&M, M&S, House of Fraser (mainly for P.O.P).

The supermarkets have some fab finds.

Black baby clothes are hard to find but lots of Instagram shops such as Cribstar have some cool things.

Handmade clothes are lovely. I like Blooming Kiwi who also do online.daphne feeding herself

  1. Favourite make-up and skincare products?

Foundation loves of my life are YSL touche éclat le teint (made me look human after giving birth), Smashbox Liquid Halo (lasted through Las Vegas heat), Estee Lauder Double Wear (Very matt but will cover ANYTHING). I like Laura Mercier secret concealer but I also like the Collection one that’s liquid in a tube? Anything MAC, most things Urban Decay, everything Illamasqua. Used to love lip gloss but now I’m loving those chunky NARS lip pencils. YSL instant glow is nice. Always liquid eyeliner for top- I actually really like the Rimmel exaggerate because it’s got a nice sized felt tipped nib thingy. If doing the bottom too then liquid on top and something dark and smudgy like MAC Feline on bottom.

  1. Huggies or Pampers?

Pampers. The ones that are in a yellow and white package. Seem okay. Only had a minimal amount of explosive poo disasters.

  1. Have you always wanted kids?

I think so, yeah! I always saw starting a family as a stage in life that I wanted. I feel like if I hadn’t had children then what am I leaving for the world? Not that my kids would be a gift to the world but, well, you know. They probably are. LOLZ.

  1. Best part of being a mum?

I’m a better version of me. I absolutely adore having her in our life. My OH adores her in our life. It’s just amazing. I can’t believe that she came from us- it’s so cool.

There’s my 20 questions answered.  Some random questions in there- how many cars in the family? HAHA!
